Rheology and Interfaces in Complex Fluids

Patrick Anderson, Eindhoven University of Technology

Jan Vermant, ETH Zürich

Speakers are invited to discuss the interplay between interface mechanics and rheology of complex fluids. The symposium will address topics where interfacial phenomena and the rheology of the fluid play a key role, such the dynamics in thin liquid films,  thin filaments or confined flows. Examples of material classes and include soft matter in general, foams for detergency, antibubbles and thin films in biomedical applications, coating flow phenomena, polymer blending and extrusion or emulsions for parental nutrition in life sciences.  Next to discussing theory and experimental challenges and observations, the symposia specifically aims at stimulating and advancing the field of modeling and simulations leading to design criteria for new materials.
